I know this isn’t exactly about Because It Isn’t There, but after seeing it, I couldn’t not say something—what a beautiful, thoughtful project. I’m really glad to have discovered both it and Eygló, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into both.
I'd just like to second your praise for Eyglo's work! Her stories always haunt me for days after I finish them. There's an image from Seafood and Cocktails that has really stuck with me!
This was good to read. I think you both exemplify the saying "Do your best to be the lead dog, otherwise the view never changes." I always look forward to seeing what comes out of your fingers next.
Let me know if the thinking comes to anything of note. I don't have the time nor energy to help in the same capacity I offered back then, neither do I think I have any more fiction in me, but I still think it is a genuinely worthwhile concept for a creative platform, so if there's something that I can do to help make it exist again, I'm all ears.
Thank you! What I'd need to make it feasible + worthwhile would be figuring out how to make it a real app with server storage etc etc... I'll poke around and ask a few people: that process is probably a little easier now than it was then.
I love that Douglas Adams has influenced you both. Always thought of his humour as peculiarly English. Fascinating. I was obsessed with his books as a child and once wrote to him. He wrote back. Several pages of handwritten encouragement and advice long since sadly lost.
I had the massive privilege of having lunch with him once in Camden. Was a moment where it looked like I might be adapting Dirk Gently for TV... which sadly never came to pass. Charming, very low-key guy.
Wow! Luck you. Shame that didn’t happen. The Netflix series didn’t work for me tbh. Not sure why. Would’ve been interesting to see what you did with it.
Interesting. Perspective as in narrative pov or approach? Though I suppose they run into each other. Just picked up All the Dark Places btw and loving it.
Thank you so much! Very happy to hear that! Adams has a way of looking at things from a perspective you wouldn’t normally do his fiction helped me with both yes.
Thank you Michael! It was very interesting! It is always informative to look into the secrets of the creative process. What doubts and searches it is accompanied by. Very interesting!!!
I’m so glad you had this conversation. I enjoy the work that both of you do both with writing and on Instagram. Thanks again looking forward to your new projects.
Enjoying, bookmarked, thanks!
Excellent!

I learn so much from you.
Thank you, April! Yes, BIIT could be a fun thing: I may have another try at seeing if I can get it off the ground properly...
Doo eet, doo eet, doo eet.
(My attempt cheerleading.)
It's working! :-)

Genuinely one of the most distinctive writers I know... glad you're enjoying her!
Thank you Leonie! High praise coming from you! 🩵
My pleasure <3

But I do miss BiiT!
I think you were the biggest contributor! I'm inspired to have a bit of a think about it and a feasibility test about making it more workable...

Douglas Adam’s taught me a lot about perspective and he was very funny, possibly in a peculiarly English way ;)
